This massage is an ancient technique, a little modernized that uses both stones and essential oils.
Together, they promote relaxation and letting go.
The stones are also used to perform massage actions on the body: smoothing, kneading, touching etc …
The Hot Stone Aromatherapy Massage is a different take on the Holistic Aromatherapy massage. The stones, are usually made of basalt, which are real volcanic stones composed of pure lava. They are very smooth, contain a high iron content and store heat for up to 45 minutes.
The stones are heated in hot water prior to the massage. The stones may be placed on the body at key points, which are believed to be the energy centers of the body, to recreate the balance of the body and the mind. These specific points are often found on the back, in the palms and in between toes. The therapist will apply essential oils, allowing the stones to glide smoothly along the skin and muscles. When the hot stones are placed on below the body, the muscles become relaxed, allowing therapists to apply deeper pressure, either by using the stones or simply the hands.
